Editorial Policy

Learn about the editorial principles behind Dant contra o Sobrenatural, a fictional universe of horror, mystery, and adventure inspired by Brazilian folklore and supernatural traditions from around the world.

Our Commitment to Storytelling

Dant contra o Sobrenatural is a literary fiction project exploring fear, the unknown, and the mysteries found in folklore and cultural traditions.

Our goal is to develop original stories, memorable characters, and a consistent fictional universe where supernatural events intersect with recognizable places, customs, and human experiences.

This Editorial Policy explains the principles guiding the creation, organization, and publication of our work.

1. Fiction and Creative Freedom

All adventures featuring Dant and Aurora belong to a fictional universe.

Characters, events, organizations, supernatural phenomena, and certain locations or circumstances may be invented or adapted to serve the narrative.

Even when real cities, landscapes, and cultural references appear, the supernatural events portrayed are fictional.

Our stories do not claim to prove the existence of monsters, curses, spirits, or other supernatural phenomena.

2. Folklore and Mythological Inspiration

Our stories may incorporate creatures, legends, and traditions from Brazil and other parts of the world.

Whenever possible, we seek to understand the cultural context of these references and distinguish traditional accounts from elements created specifically for our fictional universe.

Creatures may be given new characteristics, behaviors, and interpretations as part of the storytelling process.

We aim to approach religious, spiritual, Indigenous, and cultural traditions respectfully, without presenting community beliefs as scientifically established facts or indiscriminately portraying sacred figures as monsters.

3. Originality and Narrative Identity

The project is dedicated to developing its own stories, even when drawing upon familiar elements of horror, fantasy, and supernatural literature.

Our narratives may reflect broader genre influences, but are not intended to reproduce copyrighted works, characters, or fictional universes belonging to others.

Dant, Aurora, and their adventures follow a distinct narrative identity.

4. Story Continuity

The universe is organized into seasons, episodes, standalone cases, and parallel stories.

Main storylines maintain shared continuity, taking previous events, character development, discoveries, consequences, and established supernatural rules into account.

Standalone stories may be enjoyed individually, while parallel narratives explore additional characters and events within the same universe.

Supplementary materials may be provided to help readers understand the timeline and connections between stories.

5. Research and Cultural References

Research may support the creative process, particularly when stories involve folklore, history, cultural traditions, or real locations.

However, fictional narratives should not be mistaken for historical or scientific studies.

Supplementary sections, such as the Supernatural Archive, may explore the cultural origins of featured legends while clearly distinguishing traditional accounts from fictional adaptations.

6. Horror and Sensitive Content

Stories may contain suspense, fictional violence, frightening creatures, death, psychological conflict, and other elements associated with horror fiction.

We aim to use these elements in ways that support character development, narrative tension, and atmosphere, rather than relying on unnecessary graphic descriptions.

Content notices may accompany certain publications when appropriate.

7. Artificial Intelligence and Visual Content

Artificial intelligence tools may assist with story development, idea organization, editing, translation, and illustration.

The use of these tools does not change the fictional nature of the stories or replace editorial responsibility for published versions.

Illustrations may depict characters, creatures, environments, and events according to the established visual identity of the universe.

Fictional illustrations should not be interpreted as photographic evidence of real supernatural events.

8. Languages and Translations

Content may be published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish to reach readers internationally.

Translations aim to preserve meaning, atmosphere, dialogue, and character identity while respecting the linguistic characteristics of each language.

Proper names and central elements of the fictional universe retain their established identities.

9. Revisions and Updates

Publications may receive spelling corrections, formatting improvements, translation adjustments, and revisions needed to maintain narrative continuity.

Significant changes affecting essential story events may be identified to prevent confusion within the fictional timeline.

Our goal is to maintain readability, quality, and consistency as the universe expands.

10. Reader Participation

We welcome comments, suggestions, interpretations, and cultural references shared by readers.

Suggestions involving creatures, legends, and regional stories may inspire future research and original works, without any guarantee of use or publication.

Submitting an idea does not automatically transfer copyright ownership.
